It’s here! 5.11’s Light for Life UC3.400 – the flashlight that charges in 90 seconds

The flashlight everyone’s talking about, 5.11®’s long-awaited new Light for Lifeä UC3.400ä, just arrived at your local dealer. What makes this duty flashlight so amazing?

1) It charges in just 90 seconds and operates up to 120 minutes (60 minutes in standard mode at 90 lumens, plus 60 minutes in reserve mode). Other settings include “peak” at 270 lumens and “tactical strobe.”

2) The flashlight uses advanced capacitor technology, so there are no batteries to buy or dispose of, ever! It’s environmentally friendly, lightweight, cost-effective and lasts  more than 100 years.

3) The Light for Life UC3.400 is rated for 50,000 charge cycles and the advanced capacitors have no memory degradation issues.

4) At about 16 oz. – roughly half the weight of standard duty flashlights – the solid-state, 11.5” flashlight is ruggedly built and water-resistant. Its firearm-grade, high-strength polymer casing is abrasion, crack and bend-resistant.

5) With nothing to replace over the course of 10 years and a starting price of only $169.99, the RoHS-compliant Light for Life UC3.400 has the lowest operating cost (40% savings) of any other full-size duty flashlight.

The innovative new Light for Life UC3.400 is unlike any flashlight you’ve ever seen or used. The flashlight can run almost continuously by simply giving it  a quick charge every couple of hours. Editors at Popular Science magazine found it so impressive, they featured the flashlight in their July 2009 issue as the ‘Pick of the Month’ in the 12 Must-Have Products section.

Light for Life Program

I havent really wrote much about the Light for Life Foundation that we set up, however that changes today!

For those of you who do not know about our Light for Life program, we set it up earlier in the year as a way of giving back to our communities. We also partnered up with D.A.R.E for a special contest that selects students in different parts of the country and provides them a couple days of fun and relaxation in Montana. These students of D.A.R.E will get to enjoy:

- Round-trip airfare, ground travel and a three-day, two-night stay in the luxurious 5.11 Tactical® lodge outside of Billings, Montana, near the Big Horn River.
- A visit to Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, the site of Custer’s Last Stand.
- A guided fishing trip down the Big Horn River.
- Wilderness adventures including a hike with 5.11’s new Light for Life™ UC3.400™ Flashlight.
- Food, fun activities and a chance to make new friends.

Who wouldnt want to go! Im jealous!!

Anyway, the mission of the 5.11 Light for Life program is to promote the health and well being of deserving children and their families by providing outstanding outdoor recreational activities, educational opportunities, scholarships and other beneficial programs in conjunction with Law Enforcement organizations with the same mission.

I wanted to pass this along because it is something that makes us all proud at 5.11 Tactical!

Long-Lasting Power

This next question comes to us from Mike. Mike asks “I may have missed it in the literature, but how long does the charge last? I know it only takes 90 seconds to recharge.”

In just 90 seconds, your Light for Life™ UC3.400™ will be fully charged and ready to produce another 120 minutes of light (60 minutes at 90 lumens and 60 minutes in reserve that starts at 25 lumens and cycles down to 15 lumens.

I hope this answers you question Mike. Let us know if you have any more questions.
